Description :
The Insectarium is a production of 9 instruments, all part of the filanthropod series.
The Insectarium are a limited edition of 9, each signed and numbered. Each in a sculptural work with it's own uniqueness inside and out. The sound is phenomenal and strange and each has it's own characteristics and voice different from the others. We've played them all and managed to conjure textures and soundscapes multifariously varied.
We consider the insectariums to be a works of art individually as well as functioning as a cohesive sculptural body.
The Insectarium expands on the previous functionality of other filanthropods by incorporating optional light sensitive control over the sound spectrum.
We've also expanded and fine tuned more of the knob function to allow for a broader range of possibility..
The main controls for altering the synthesis are 5 knobs with extreme sensitivity, 2 switch button arrays to activate synthesis and capture waves, mode switch, and 1/4" output. In addition, we've added an optical control section to control the global synth function, lamp, and reset. We've also written a Insectarium specific basic manual of function and layout, and integrated our own battery pack. You'll be able to cipher through waveform and textures with extreme sensitivity in thousands of ways. Waveforms (individual, or multiple layers) can be captured and maintained, often intermodulating in beautiful and/or disturbing ways.
These works have a sound that no other synthesizer on the planet will create. The synth design is controllable chaos.
